On November 21, 2025 the Government of India, in a historic move brought into effect the four new Labour Codes that subsume within them 29 older labour related enactments. The journey of bringing these Codes into effect, has not been a quick one.

This book is a commentary on the Labour Codes and looks at each and every provision of these Codes separately to discuss the intent behind the provision and what changes have been made in the new Codes vis-à-vis the older labour laws which the Codes have replaced.

The book not only relies upon the Statement of Objects and Reasons but also draws heavily from the Reports of the respective Parliamentary Standing Committees relating to each of the Labour Codes

Additionally the author has also discussed various case laws which, even though were decided under the previous legislations, may still be relevant under the new Labour Laws to understand the scope of certain provisions.

This book is divided into four main parts, each part discussing one of the Labour Codes. Each part begins with a short introduction of the respective Labour Code followed by the Salient Features of that Code before a detailed discussion of the provisions thereof.
