ABOUT THE BOOK :-The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been enacted repealing the earlier Act of 1947, with intent to consolidate and amend the existing laws relating to Prevention of Corruption, so as to make them more effective by widening their coverage and by strengthening the provisions.With this object in view the term” Public Servant” has been defined to cover several categories of persons within its sweep. Sections 161 to 165-A of the Indian Penal Code have been repealed and incorporated in this Act with suitable amendments and providing-enhanced penalties. The Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1959 has been repealed and the provisions of that Act have, also been included in this Act with necessary amendments. Several other provisions provide for speedy trial of cases.This treatise provides an exhaustive analytical and critical exposition of the provisions of the Prevention Corruption Act, 1988, as well as the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946. Offences of Criminal Conspiracy attempt and abetment which are punishable under the Indian Penal Code and several useful appendices including Central Vigilance Commission Act 2003 and copious case Law added upto March 2005. Pains have been taken to see that all important aspects are digested, analysed and presented to enable easy reference.
